NextGenMed Hungary Kft. has been Cardiomatics’ exclusive distribution partner in Hungary since 2021, working with cardiology clinics and hospitals across the country. Alongside its diagnostic technology line, NextGenMed supplies wearable ECG recorders — among the smallest, lightest and most comfortable devices available on the market — and, since adding Cardiomatics to its offering, a combined hardware and software workflow for long-term ECG monitoring.

Today, NextGenMed supports more than a dozen cardiology clinics and practices in Hungary through this joint solution. As a local partner, NextGenMed brings more than device supply: clinics work with a team that speaks their language, understands the Hungarian healthcare environment, and can resolve most questions without involving a foreign software vendor.

Cardiomatics is an AI-powered platform for long-term ECG analysis, developed in Kraków, Poland, since 2017. The platform supports Holter ECG interpretation and structured reporting through AI-assisted analysis, holds EU MDR certification, and is designed to integrate with a wide range of recording devices — making it a flexible solution for both direct clinical use and distribution partnerships.

The market need

Holter ECG monitoring is a core diagnostic tool in cardiology, but demand is growing faster than capacity on both sides of this relationship. For cardiology clinics, diagnostic centres, hospitals and neurology practices, more patients need arrhythmia workups than teams can comfortably analyse by hand — driving waiting times and backlogs. For distributors, a portfolio built only around recording hardware is becoming harder to differentiate, since most devices on the market now offer broadly similar recording quality.

The opportunity lies in combining both. Offering analysis alongside the device turns a one-off equipment sale into an ongoing service relationship, and gives clinics a faster path from recording to report without expanding their team. For distributors, it means something devices alone cannot provide: a reason to stay the preferred partner long after the initial sale.

For a distributor already supplying recording devices, the question is increasingly not whether to add an analysis layer, but when — and which partner to do it with.

Why NextGenMed partnered with Cardiomatics

NextGenMed’s ambition was to help Hungarian cardiology patients get an earlier, more accurate diagnosis through a combination of a more comfortable recording device and a faster, more precise way of analysing the recording. Partnering with Cardiomatics allowed NextGenMed to offer customers longer ECG recording periods analysed with speed, while supporting more consistent and reliable analysis.

For NextGenMed, adding Cardiomatics also meant transforming a one-off device sale into an ongoing service relationship, with a more complete offering that sets it apart in the Hungarian Holter market.

NextGenMed chose Cardiomatics based on its credentials for quality and analytical accuracy, as well as the clinical references already in place at the time. Being a Central and Eastern European company was also an important factor — both in terms of proximity and shared values, and because it means full compliance with EU regulations by definition.

The partnership model

NextGenMed provides an end-to-end solution: recording devices, electrode supplies, onboarding, training and ongoing customer care. Cardiomatics is built into this as the analytics platform and second-line support, so customers get one point of contact locally, backed by Cardiomatics’ analysis and reporting.

In practice, this means a customer with a question never has to work out first whether it is a device issue or a software issue, and then track down the right vendor to ask. They raise it with NextGenMed, in Hungarian, and NextGenMed either resolves it directly or brings in Cardiomatics behind the scenes for anything analysis-related. That removes the back-and-forth that often comes with having a device supplier and a software vendor as two separate relationships, each pointing the customer toward the other.

Customer reference

One of the largest and most prestigious Hungarian private clinics began working with NextGenMed more than four years ago, starting with two wearable ECG devices used mainly for longer recordings of three to five days. As the clinic’s older, cable-based 24-hour recorders reached the end of their working life, it gradually added further devices from NextGenMed’s range. Today the clinic runs five devices in total, each paired with a Cardiomatics subscription.

Cardiomatics runs entirely in a web browser with no local installation required, and the clinic’s team was up and running after a short onboarding session led by NextGenMed. After the physician prescribes the Holter examination, a clinic assistant fits the device early in the morning — no doctor presence required. The patient returns the device after the prescribed recording period, whether 24, 36 or 72 hours, or up to five days. The assistant uploads the signal to Cardiomatics and puts the device on charge, ready for the next patient. The physician receives an email notification when the AI-assisted analysis is complete, reviews the structured report, and discusses the findings with the patient at a follow-up appointment, sharing the PDF report directly. With a fast-track option also available for urgent cases, the platform adapts to the pace of each clinic.

Results and benefits

The combined offer gives customers a complete solution through a single local partner. For NextGenMed, it also means standing out in an increasingly competitive Holter market. Clinics using the joint solution value the time saved and the structured report format, and patients show better engagement with the process, supporting faster and more reliable results. Since starting with two devices in 2021, the clinic in this example has tripled its monthly examination volume, reflecting the growing confidence in the combined workflow.

For the clinic’s team, the practical impact goes beyond the numbers. With AI supporting the initial signal analysis, physicians can focus on interpreting findings and talking to patients rather than working through raw ECG data manually. The same team is now able to process significantly more examinations without adding headcount or extending working hours — a meaningful shift for a busy cardiology practice where staff time is the primary constraint.

The partnership also creates a growing business effect for NextGenMed. Each clinic that adopts the combined solution tends to expand its device count over time, as the ability to handle more examinations without growing the team removes the main barrier to scaling up. For NextGenMed, this means recurring subscription revenue alongside device sales, and an ongoing relationship with the clinic rather than a one-off transaction.

The difference compared to a traditional setup is easy to see in practice. Without AI-supported analysis, adding examination capacity typically means adding staff — a cardiologist or technician whose time is largely spent on manual report preparation rather than clinical decision-making. With Cardiomatics, the same physician can review and diagnose significantly more patients in the same time, because the analysis is already done. The device grows the capacity; Cardiomatics makes that capacity usable.

Growth chart: from 2 devices and about 18 ECG exams per month to 5 devices and 54 exams per month, a threefold increase

What comes next

NextGenMed and Cardiomatics continue to grow this joint offering across more clinics in Hungary. As the Cardiomatics platform evolves, so does the value it brings to NextGenMed’s customers — from more detailed analysis and structured reporting to new workflow options that help clinics do more with the same team. For NextGenMed, that means a stronger and more differentiated offering over time, without additional complexity on their side. To learn more about NextGenMed’s offering, visit NextGenMed’s website.
